How has technology changed the recruitment process?
19 Jul
There is no debate on whether technology touches our lives many times a day – but how has technology changed the recruiting process? For students looking to go into the Information Technology field, it is important to understand how to use technology to make the recruitment process easier. Stephanie Staszko, career planning and academics writer, has a few pointers for information technology job-seekers:
Job Advertisements: The days of circling job openings are over – applicants are now able to apply online for various job positions. Job seekers can now also create alerts that are sent directly to their mobile phones when a job at their company of choice opens up.
Online Applications: Online applications have sped up the hiring process, which is a positive for both employers and prospective employees. Though there are many pros to the online application process, it can be harder for applicants to distinguish themselves from the other applicants.
Filtering Potential Candidates: Filtering candidates that show interview potential can be difficult, especially if the employer only has information submitted online. For this reason, many companies hand off the filtering process to online recruitment specialists. When submitting an application online, it is important to read the job description thoroughly and to make sure you are adequately qualified for the position.
First Impressions of the Potential Interviewee: Many employers are taking advantage of increased social networking profiles. Searching for potential interviewees can give the employer a window into what characteristics the candidate really possesses. When searching for a job, it is important to know what information is available about you online.

I am not sure if I am writing this in the right location, but I am getting ready to move to the Usa and am seeking to secure employment in the information technology field. I currently have a job lead with a company (LTJ Management, LLC, 900 Congress Ave, Suite L-150, Austin, TX 78701 (512) 895-9500) and sought some thoughts on the easiest method to study them to discover if they will be a great company to work for. I’ve searched on their webpage, but believed somebody here could have a few other suggestions on exactly where to look. Thank very much.
