More on the Post-Interview Thank You Note

10 Jul

My colleague, Liz Dalton, recently wrote a blog post about the lost art of the post-interview thank you note. Liz’s blog post provided a great deal of information regarding the importance of sending a thank you note and how such a small gesture can help a candidate stand out.

After reading the post by Liz I immediately thought to myself, “I know a great way to send a quick and easy thank you note that can be received in a timely fashion, and also look very professional.”

A few months ago, I ran across a mobile app perfect for the job seeker or anyone who might have a need to send thank you notes. This app allows the user to download over 25 different thank you cards directly to their phone. The application also assists in writing the thank you note, and delivering the letter in a stamped envelope. This app may be the perfect marriage between a personal touch and technology.

This app, ThankYouPro, is free to download but there is a small fee involved to send notes. ThankYouPro handles almost every aspect of the process. If you are serious about your job search and want to be the one candidate that stands out among the rest of the job seekers, I strongly suggest sending a thank you note after your interview. One of the easiest ways to make this thought a reality is to utilize the ThankYouPro app.

Here are some sites where you can check out the functionality of the app and learn more:

Great advice! However, a thank you note can be more than just a follow up and a differentiator. It can also save a poor interview, and make a great interview seem even better. While your thank you letter should be brief, it should also touch on why you think you are a strong candidate for the role, address anything you think did not go well, and build an argument for why you are the best fit for the job. This will keep you fresh in the hiring manager’s mind and clear any doubts they may have formed during the interview.
