The Process

A full-service freight transportation provider employed a large legacy environment to run business-critical applications. The organization’s underlying legacy architecture was complex, difficult to change and expensive; limiting company growth. Client requirements included increased functionality and efficiency, reduced risk from antiquated technology and a loosely coupled solution for future flexibility.

The Impact

UDig designed and built a new Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) solution and established Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) best practices. The loosely coupled solution enabled a more agile environment mitigating technology risk, requiring fewer customizations and is proving to be more cost-effective. The solution provides critical infrastructure to the architecture and will act as the communication backbone between both internal and external systems for future integrations. UDig consultants also focused on mentorship of client employees, building in-house knowledge of the technologies and leveraging reusable assets.
