15 Days of Giving

15 Days of Giving
Back to insights

2016 marks the 15th year of business for UDig. To celebrate 15 years of technology innovation UDig gave back to 15 charitable organizations. Each day of our 15 Days of Giving campaign we highlighted one of the 15 organizations. Check out how we gave back to each of these nonprofits below.

Day 1: UDig donated $1 to charity for every new follower on LinkedIn during our 15 Days of Giving. We are happy to announce that we will be donating the money we raised from our LinkedIn followers campaign to K9s For Warriors

Day 2: We sponsored a 6/7 year old Tuckahoe Little League baseball team this spring. Tuckahoe Little League is dedicated to promoting good sportsmanship, team work, commitment, honesty and courage.

Day 3: During our 15 Days of Giving we collected school supplies for Richmond Public Schools to help restock their teacher supply store. Teachers can visit the supply store once a month and collect supplies for their classrooms.

Day 4: UDig employees donated grains of rice to the World Food Programme by answering vocabulary questions on freerice.com. For each correct answer 10 grains of rice are donated to the World Food Programme. Collectively, we donated 27,910 grains of rice!

Day 5: Scattered Stitches makes handmade crafts, teddy bears and preemie hats for individuals and families touched by financial, emotional or physical hardship. Our donation will provide a dozen children with teddy bears.

Day 6: The Nike Reuse-A-Shoe program collects old tennis shoes and transforms them into Nike Grind, a material used to create playground and athletic surfaces. UDig is recycling worn out tennis shoes to help reduce our environmental footprint.

Day 7: UDig was the raffle sponsor for a Southwest Airlines gift card at the 8th Annual Matt Davis Foundation Day at Randolph-Macon College. The Matt Davis Foundation Sportsmanship Award is presented to seniors at Freeman High School that exhibit outstanding skills as students and athletes

Day 8: Peanut, the African Elephant, was adopted by UDig through the World Wildlife Fund. The World Wildlife Fund protects endangered species and their habitats through conservation efforts around the world.

Day 9: Our marketing team has been assisting The Doorways on a research project to gauge community awareness around Central Virginia. The Doorways provides support and lodging for patients and their families coming to Richmond for medical care at our local hospitals

Day 10: The Full Circle Grief Center provides professional grief support for children, adults, families and communities. UDig has been an active supporter of this organization for many years, most recently at the “Live Your Dash” Luncheon.

Day 11: ChildSavers is committed to the mental health and developmental needs of children who have experienced trauma. UDig donated toys that will be used in their mental health services and child care provider centers.

Day 12: Ronald McDonald House Charities of Richmond provides a home away from home for critically ill children and their families. RMHC collects aluminum pop tops to support their programs by recycling them for the cost of the aluminum. UDig collected pop tops to donate.

Day 13: UDig held a food drive in our office for FeedMore’s Central Virginia Food Bank.

Day 14: UDig participated in Hanover Humane Society‘s “Man’s Best Friend” drive by donating a Kuranda bed to the animal shelter.

Day 15: UDig made mental health awareness ribbons for the National Alliance on Mental Illness. National Alliance on Mental Illness is dedicated to building better lives for Americans affected by mental illness.

A special thank you to all of these great organizations for all they do!
