UDig, a digital product company, turns 25 this month. Andy Frank founded UDig in Richmond in August 2001, weeks before the tragedy of September 11. The next 12 to 18 months were brutal for a new staffing company as the country grieved and recovered.
After many years of growth in staffing, UDig chose to pivot into consulting in 2015. In 2023 it narrowed further, into digital product development. UDig now operates in Richmond, Nashville, and Atlanta, and continues to expand.
Twenty-five years matters because of what the team has built. For a Fortune 500 retailer, UDig delivered a mobile point-of-sale system that reached 40 percent higher employee adoption across 2,300 stores, cut seven figures a year in licensing costs, and paid for itself in twelve months. That client named UDig its Service Partner of the Year in 2025, and earned a place on the 2024 CIO 100 for a product UDig helped build.
For one of the country’s largest homebuilders, UDig designed a home configuration experience that delivered a 2.5x increase in qualified buyer leads. The client recognized it with its Innovation of the Year award and featured UDig’s work in its annual report.
UDig has also ranked on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies and been named a Best Place to Work in both Virginia and Nashville.

Twenty-five years is a milestone few companies reach and I’m proud of it, but none of it happened on our own — I’m grateful to our employees, our clients, and our partners for getting us here.”
UDig is marking the milestone with 25 Acts of Giving, a company-wide campaign of service and donations across Richmond, Nashville, and Atlanta — one act for every year in business. The celebration culminates in Richmond in October, when the UDig team, clients, and friends of the company gather to mark the anniversary.
