RICHMOND, VA, September 20, 2016 – UDig’s Innovation Studio developers enjoy working with new technologies and assessing frameworks to leverage for potential client projects. With their innovation time, reserved for exploring ideas and learning new technology, the team recently learned Unity, a popular multi-platform game engine.
The result is Caffeine Rush, now available for free on iOS and Google Play for Android. The addictive game is simple, yet challenging. Our protagonist, Digger, goes on an ever-long run dodging creatures and trying to stay on his feet. Watch out for caffeine cans though, or you may get a rush of energy you cannot control!
Innovation Studio developers found developing in Unity was not only a fun learning experience, but the platform provides value extending beyond game development. Brad, lead developer on the project, shared “Projects in need of 2D or 3D animation or extensive visualization can be created in Unity and configured to run on PC’s, Macs, iOS, Android, HTML5 and even the recent wave of virtual reality headsets like the Vive or Oculus.”
Andrew Duncan, Director of Innovation Services, went on to add, “While this particular project may provide potential value in creating an animated training program, 3D warehouse process visualization or an interactive marketing tool for clients, the real value is in the flexibility of our developers and their ability to quickly learn and utilize new tools.”
